Headclouds first came to our attention with the almost impossibly pretty ‘Flowers’, and we fell under their spell instantly. While ostensibly an indie band, their sound has none of the harshness or rough edges you might expect. Their music seems intended to be as pure an enjoyment as pop can be.
‘Marmalade’ is another great example of this, a sun-dapled late summer torch song. Vocally it’s sublime: a Dylanesque twang offset against an irrepressible optimism. The harmonies are gorgeous and really enhance the bittersweet and floaty sensation of the track, with a gentle groove that lilts at the chorus.
‘Marmalade’ is a wonderfully smooth, mature and assured track about escaping mundanity with the help of your SO, whoever he/she may be.
It’s the perfect sunny day soundtrack: although in October you shouldn’t expect many of them.
